Having a good work ethic is needed in every task through a normal person’s life. If it’s not during school then it’s during work or if it’s not during work it’s during practice. The OWEI is an online test that determines your interpersonal skills, initiative, and dependability. Starting from the top, interpersonal skills are traits needed throughout life in order to communicate with a single person or a group of people. For example, a comedian might have great interpersonal skills because he or she is able to react well with crowds, while a regular person might be terrified of crowds and the attention (me).

Initiative is one of the most important traits needed becomes it prevents you from becoming lazy. If you do not have initiative you begin to miss the opportunities that might develop you as a person and enable you to learn. Taking initiative might be taking out the trash when you are not asked or not complaining when your mom asks you to clean your room. Lastly, the ability to display independence. As you grow older you begin to realize you do not rely on your parents anymore to help you with simple tasks. You are able to do it on your own and with ease. This is the case when it comes to a job or an internship. The manager and mentor need to know they can trust you to do tasks without being constantly reliant on their instruction. Being dependable is arriving on time, completing tasks to higher there expectations and showing you are honest with everything you do. The OWEI survey helped me realize that my weakest aspect is initiative, but I am still above average when compared to the population who had taken the test. Being in a professional environment allowed me to develop my independence as well as develop my interpersonal skills. The more people I met and the more tasks I was given the more I was able to grow. It has been a great journey so far!
